The Initiative for Interstellar Studies is a global organisation with members from many different countries. Our principal operations and events are managed from a central headquarters in the UK. Visits to our building are by appointment only.
Our HQ is set in the gorgeous countryside of the English Cotswolds, with its well-known gentle hillsides (wolds) and sleepy villages. Several major cities are only a short travelling distance from our building. The area is known for its bedrock of Jurassic limestone that creates the unique type of grassland habits that are rare in the UK, and it is quarried for its much cherished golden coloured Cotswold stone. It has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, and it borders the counties of South Warwickshire, West Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset. One of the most famous of the local residents was the composer Gustav Theodore Holst, who is best know for 'The Planets', an orchestral suite written between 1914 and 1916 - with each of the movements of the suite named after a planet of the Solar System.
We have a large conference room which can host ~80-100 people and we have a special library and a café space, as well as our reception area which we call 'the bridge and is where we manage the i4is operations globally. We also have many cool spaceship models, space art and actual artefacts of objects that have flown in space or been a part of space history. In our area, which we call 'the interstellar space' you will find many wonderful things that celebrate our aspirations towards interstellar flight. We are also building a high technology sensor and experimental area. The 'Interstellar Space' was opened by Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden on the 8th October 2017.
We can accommodate for:
- Business meetings
- Social receptions
If you are interested in booking our space for the use of your own event then please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
