The workshop started off with an amazing social-cultural night at the Harvard Club of New York City, with around 50 people in attendance, to see the exhibits of eight different artists, C Bangs, Carmela Tal Baron, Kari Weatherbee, David A Hardy, Adrian Mann, Alex Storer, Rick Sternbach, Alexandra Limpert. In addition, Carmela did a gorgeous poetry reading, and entertainment throughout the evening was provided by a wonderful 3- piece classical orchestra organized by NYC Productions and Events Inc.
Also, two Alpha Centauri Prize Awards were given out this night, presented by Robert Kennedy III, President of the Institute for Interstellar Studies USA Branch. This was the Pegasus award to Gregory Matloff, awarded to an individual that has contributed meaningfully to the field of interstellar studies over a sustained period not less than ten years, with a standard of excellence and commitment that is distinguished. The other was the Prometheus award to C Bangs, awarded to an individual that has contributed artistically to the field of interstellar studies over multiple projects and co-operating with many people, and in a way that communicates the vision of interstellar flight with inspiration.
